Most Blue Light Card zoo discounts don’t work at the gate. Chester Zoo’s offer, for example, only works when you book online through Love to visit.
Blue Light Guide is an independent guide and isn’t affiliated with Blue Light Card Ltd. For your account, verification or payments, use the official Blue Light Card website or app.
London Zoo, Knowsley Safari and Twycross Zoo also want you to book ahead with a code. Rates run from 5% at Yorkshire Wildlife Park to up to 25% at Twycross.
Two zoos flip the rule. Hertfordshire Zoo and Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm only take money off at the ticket office. We checked every offer below on 24 October 2026.
Nine Zoos and Parks Compared
Where a zoo’s own terms are stricter than Blue Light Card’s listing, the table follows the zoo.
| Zoo or park | Member offer | How to claim |
|---|---|---|
| Chester Zoo | Rate not published | Love to visit link, online only |
| Twycross Zoo | Up to 25% off day tickets | Code at online checkout |
| London Zoo and Whipsnade | 10% off pre-booked tickets | Online code, card checked at the gate |
| Knowsley Safari | 15% off online bookings | Online code, not at the gate |
| Hertfordshire Zoo | 20% off the holder’s ticket | Welcome Centre with photo ID |
| Marwell Zoo | 5% to 20%, set by date | Blue Light Card booking page |
| West Midland Safari Park | Up to 7% off online prices | Online code, admission only |
| Yorkshire Wildlife Park | 5% off standard admission | Online code, memberships too |
Three rows differ from Blue Light Card’s zoo discounts page. The sections below explain why.

Say two adults and two children aged 3 to 15 spend a day at Knowsley Safari. Booked in advance, their four tickets cost £101, or £113 bought on the day. Take the 15% code off the advance price and the family pays £85.85 for all four, which is £27.15 less than booking on the day.

Knowsley’s ticket prices vary at peak times and on bank holidays, so check your date.
North West and Yorkshire Parks
All three northern parks want the booking made online before you travel.
Chester Zoo via Love to Visit
Yes, Chester Zoo has a Blue Light Card discount, but only online. It runs through Love to visit, a booking partner, and applies automatically when you click through.
Blue Light Card’s Chester Zoo page says to search for Love to visit in your account, not Chester Zoo, then choose its Chester Zoo offer. That step catches people out.

Blue Light Card doesn’t publish the percentage. Chester Zoo’s own website already advertises up to 20% off online and up to 30% for booking in advance, so compare both prices.
Our Chester Zoo Blue Light Card guide covers the booking in more detail.
15% Off Knowsley Safari Online
Knowsley Safari gives members 15% off online bookings. The code is copied when you click through, and Blue Light Card’s Knowsley page says it can’t be used at the gate.
Serving military members can skip the code. Knowsley lets them in free when they show their pass, which beats any discount.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s 5% Code
Yorkshire Wildlife Park takes 5% off standard admission with a code from your account, entered when you book online.
Unusually, Blue Light Card’s offer page says the code also works on annual memberships. That suits families who’ll go more than once a year.
Advance tickets also cost £3.50 less per person than buying on the day, the park says.
Zoos Around London and the South
London Zoo, Hertfordshire Zoo and Marwell each limit the discount in a different way.
London Zoo Discount Code at 10%
The London Zoo discount code gives members 10% off pre-booked tickets. Blue Light Card copies the code and emails it to you, and you paste it in at checkout.

The catch is the ticket type. Blue Light Card’s London Zoo page says the code covers single dated admission tickets only. Family tickets, memberships, experiences and shop purchases are out, and London Zoo checks your card at the gate.
Whipsnade Zoo, ZSL’s other zoo, runs the same 10% on pre-booked tickets, and its FAQ asks to see the card on arrival.
Travelling by train? London Zoo also takes part in the National Rail 2-for-1 offer, but ZSL’s terms say no promotion can be combined with another.
One 20% Ticket at Hertfordshire Zoo
Hertfordshire Zoo’s FAQ offers 20% off day tickets, but only the cardholder’s ticket gets it. You pay at the Welcome Centre with your Blue Light Card and another photo ID, and it can’t be used online.
Everyone else in your group should book online, which the zoo says is 10% cheaper than the gate. Events, annual memberships and animal experiences aren’t included.
Blue Light Card’s zoo page lists 10% off day tickets instead, so check the offer in the app before you go.
Marwell Changes Its Rate by Date
Marwell Zoo near Winchester sells its Blue Light tickets only through Blue Light Card’s booking page. Its terms set the rate by date, with 10% from 1 September to 23 October 2026 and 20% from 24 October to 1 November.
Blue Light Card’s zoo page shows 5%, so check the price for your date. One booking covers the member and up to five guests arriving together, and the card is checked at the gate.
The Midlands and West Country
Twycross has the biggest headline rate on the card. Further south west, two popular parks run their own schemes instead.
Twycross Zoo Offers Up to 25%
Twycross Zoo near Atherstone offers members up to 25% off day tickets. Blue Light Card’s Twycross page says the code is copied and emailed to you, ready to paste in at checkout.
Because it’s up to 25%, some dates may show less. Twycross’s own day tickets start at £28.75 for adults and £21.55 for children, and now include 12 months of free return visits.
West Midland Safari Park Caps at 7%
West Midland Safari Park near Bewdley gives members up to 7% off its online admission prices, using a code from Blue Light Card. Blue Light Card’s zoo page describes the same offer as up to £13.50 off the gate price.
The park’s terms limit the code to admission, so ride wristbands and other extras stay at the standard online price. It doesn’t work for Santa Safari or evening events, but bookings made with it include a free return visit within six months.
The member must be the lead booker and may be asked for the physical card or the app on the day. Screenshots aren’t accepted.
Noah’s Ark Gives 10% at the Gate
Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm near Bristol takes 10% off full price day tickets at the ticket office. You show a valid Blue Light Card, NHS staff card or military ID, and the zoo’s FAQ says it no longer offers an online discount.

Its Early Bird price matches that without any card. Book five full days ahead and 10% comes off the gate price automatically, so the card mostly helps on a last-minute visit.
Longleat Runs Its Own Scheme
Longleat isn’t on Blue Light Card’s zoo page or in its brand directory. Instead, it sells its own Emergency Services day tickets to staff from the police, fire service, NHS, coastguard and RNLI, among others.
Book through Longleat’s dedicated link at least a day before, and bring your employee ID card. Its help page doesn’t give the percentage, and the tickets can’t be combined with other offers.
Book Online and Bring the Card
The routine is much the same at every zoo on the card. Log in to the Blue Light Card app or website, search for the zoo and open its offer.
Some offers copy a code and email it to you, and you paste it in at the zoo’s checkout. Others, like Chester Zoo and SEA LIFE, send you through a link with the price already applied. Either way, you pay online before you set off, and our guide to using the card covers both routes.
Then take the card with you. London Zoo, Whipsnade and Marwell check it at the gate, and SEA LIFE asks for proof of employment on entry.
Blue Light Card’s zoo page lists ten SEA LIFE centres, from Brighton to Loch Lomond. The SEA LIFE offer applies the discount when you click through, but tickets must be booked at least 24 hours ahead. SEA LIFE is part of Merlin, which our Merlin guide covers.

Member discounts can’t be combined with other offers at London Zoo, Marwell or West Midland Safari Park, so compare the member price with each zoo’s own advance price. Annual memberships are mostly left out too. Yorkshire Wildlife Park is the exception, and Marwell lets you upgrade a discounted day ticket to membership.
Membership costs £4.99 for two years, and checks take 1 to 3 working days. If you’re not a member yet, apply well before the trip. Our eligibility guide shows who qualifies.
For more family days out, our days out guide covers castles, cinemas and Merlin parks, and Blue Light Tickets releases free and discounted event tickets. If the children would rather ride than spot animals, see our theme park guide and Alton Towers member pricing. The full discounts list covers everything else.
