Café Rouge, Frankie and Benny’s, Prezzo, Turtle Bay, Burger King and Marston’s pubs all run offers too, but their rates move often enough that the app is the only reliable source. Check before you book rather than after.
Wagamama Blue Light Card Discount
Yes. 20% off your food bill, every day of the week.
The discount covers you plus up to five guests, so a table of six is fine. You need a unique code from your Blue Light Card account and you show it to your server alongside the card, per Wagamama’s own offer terms.
It is dine in only and valid at every branch in England, Scotland and Wales except airports. The £14 main and drink lunch set menu and the group set menus are both excluded.
The bit most posts miss: Wagamama is one of the only partners that lets you collect and redeem Soul Club rewards on the same bill. Everywhere else, using the card kills your other offer.
PizzaExpress Blue Light Card Discount
Yes, but only Sunday to Thursday. You get 20% off food, drinks excluded, with no minimum spend.
Fridays and Saturdays are both blocked, along with bank holidays, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter Monday and Father’s Day. That double weekend exclusion is written into the PizzaExpress Blue Light Card terms and it is the single most common reason a member gets turned down at the till.
You cannot just show the card. Generate the 12-digit code in the app first, then show the QR code to your waiter and one code covers the entire table.
Pizza stamps still count. Spend £15 or more per person and you earn your PizzaExpress Club stamp even with the 20% applied, which is unusual for a discount this size.
It does not work on takeaway, collection, or delivery through Uber Eats, Just Eat or Deliveroo. Airport branches and Live Music venues are out too.
Greene King Blue Light Card Discount
Yes, and right now it is 20% off food rather than the usual 15%. The boost runs from 20 July to 2 August 2026 across participating pubs.
Outside boost periods the standard rate is 15% off food, valid every day of the week during food service hours. You show the QR code in the Blue Light Card app and staff scan it to activate the discount, as set out on the Greene King Blue Light Card page.
The cap nobody mentions: the offer only applies to bills up to £100, with a maximum discount of £20. A £160 table bill still only saves you £20, so split large groups across two bills.
Bank holidays are excluded, and it will not combine with Tesco vouchers, Gourmet Society membership or Greene King staff vouchers. One redemption per person per transaction.
Bella Italia, Café Rouge and Las Iguanas
Yes, and Bella Italia is the best rate on this page at 25% off the total bill. Total bill means drinks are included, which almost no other partner offers.
It runs Sunday to Friday, so Saturday is the day to avoid, not Friday. Tables of up to six, eat in only, and you need a code from your Blue Light Card account first.
Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and bank holidays are excluded, and the offer is not available at Center Parcs sites or at Birmingham between 1 November and 31 December.
Las Iguanas sits in the same group at 20% off food, Sunday to Friday after midday, for tables of up to eight. It is one of the few casual dining offers that covers collection as well as dining in, though drinks and set menus are excluded.
These brands sit under The Big Table Group alongside Café Rouge, Frankie and Benny’s, Banana Tree, Chiquito and Amalfi. Harvester is not part of this group, despite what a lot of discount roundups claim.
Harvester and Toby Carvery Blue Light Card Discount
Yes. 20% off food, Monday to Friday only. Both are Mitchells and Butlers brands and run the same weekday-only offer.
The weekday window makes these a lunch or early week dinner option rather than a weekend one. If you were planning a Sunday roast on the discount, Toby Carvery is the wrong choice and Greene King is the right one.
Five Guys Blue Light Card Discount
Yes. 10% off your bill, every day, dine in only.
Five Guys is strict about how you prove it. You have to show the voucher inside the Blue Light Card app at the till, and the physical card on its own will be refused.
Takeaway and delivery orders do not qualify, which catches out anyone who assumed a burger chain would treat collection the same as eating in.
Starbucks Blue Light Card Discount
Yes. 10% off your bill, every day, at participating stores. Show the card at the till and it covers your whole group, not just your own drink.

KFC Blue Light Card Discount
Yes. 9% off, and it is one of the few offers that works on takeaway.

Restaurants That Do Not Accept Blue Light Card
Two big names get claimed as partners constantly and neither one is. Getting this wrong costs you an awkward conversation at the till.
Nando’s
No. Nando’s has no Blue Light Card partnership and the card is not accepted.
Nando’s runs its own separate emergency services discount at 20% off, but it requires photo ID carrying an official Police, Fire, Ambulance or Military logo at the till. Their own help centre states the card is not valid for it.
That scheme is also capped hard. It applies to orders up to £20, giving a maximum £4 off, once per day, eat in or walk-in collection only. Teachers and social care staff do not qualify at all.
There is a workaround. Blue Light Card sells discounted Nando’s Shopping Cards through its voucher shop, and the saving is baked into the purchase price. They are redeemable in restaurants only, not online.
McDonald’s
No. McDonald’s does not accept Blue Light Card at the counter or in the app.
The widely quoted 20% is a completely separate NHS offer inside the My McDonald’s app, unlocked by registering with an official NHS email address. That means police, fire, teachers and social care staff are excluded from it entirely.

How to Redeem Your Blue Light Card at a Restaurant
There are three different mechanics in use, and knowing which one applies before you sit down is most of the battle.

Claim the code before you leave home. Restaurant signal is unreliable and the app needs a connection to generate a fresh code, which is a miserable thing to discover once the food has arrived.

The Day Restrictions That Catch Members Out
Friday gets blamed for this, but Saturday is excluded just as often. Restaurants protect whichever night is busiest for them, and that is not the same day for every brand.

If you want a Saturday night out on the discount, your realistic options are Wagamama, Greene King, Five Guys, Starbucks and KFC. Everything else on this page either blocks Saturday or blocks the whole weekend.
Bank holidays are excluded almost everywhere, and Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day are blocked at most casual dining chains. Those are exactly the dates people book a table months ahead and assume the discount will hold.
My Honest Read
Bella Italia at 25% off the total bill is the strongest dining offer the card has, because drinks count and drinks are where restaurant margins hide. A table of four with a couple of bottles of wine saves more there than anywhere else on this list.
Wagamama is the one I actually use most, purely because it works every day and I do not have to check a calendar first. Convenience beats a slightly higher headline rate when the higher rate comes with four exclusion dates.
KFC at 9% is barely worth the effort of opening the app. It is there if you are already ordering, but nobody should plan a meal around it.
What You Can Realistically Save
You will see £3,126 a year quoted everywhere, including by Blue Light Card itself. It is worth understanding what that number actually is before you budget around it.
Blue Light Card calculates it using the top 10% of its offers and an average 22% discount rate, applied against a member’s average disposable income. It is a modelled ceiling, correct as of November 2025, not a typical member’s actual saving.
Dining alone, the honest maths is smaller and still comfortably worth it. Two casual dinners a month at £25 a head with 20% off saves £120 a year.
Add a weekly Starbucks at £4 with 10% off and that is another £20.80. Two monthly KFC orders at £10 with 9% off adds £21.60.
That lands at roughly £162 a year from dining alone, against a membership that costs £4.99 for two years. One Bella Italia meal for four covers the entire two-year fee.
Who Qualifies for Blue Light Card
Eligibility is based on your profession, not your income. Our detailed eligibility breakdown covers every qualifying role, but the headline groups are these.
- NHS staff and healthcare workers
- Emergency services including police, fire, ambulance, HM Coastguard and mountain rescue
- Social care workers
- Armed forces, serving personnel and veterans
- Teachers and school support staff
- Retired members of the NHS and emergency services
That last group is the one people miss. If you have retired from the NHS or emergency services, you still qualify.
Verification is instant if you have a recognised work email address. Otherwise you upload a work ID, payslip or employer letter, and approval usually takes up to seven days.

Does Blue Light Card work on Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Just Eat
No. Restaurant partner discounts are excluded from all third-party delivery platforms without exception. Blue Light Card does run separate offers with delivery apps from time to time, but those are unrelated to the in-restaurant rate.
Does the discount cover the whole table or just me
It depends on the brand and there is usually a table size cap. Wagamama covers you plus five guests, Bella Italia and PizzaExpress cap at six, and Las Iguanas allows eight. Starbucks applies to your whole group with no stated limit.
Can I use Blue Light Card with loyalty points
Usually yes for points, no for other discounts. Starbucks Rewards stars, PizzaExpress pizza stamps and Wagamama Soul Club rewards all still accrue, but the card will not stack with a voucher code, set menu or meal deal.
Can I share my code with family
No. Codes are tied to your membership and sharing them can get your account banned. The cardholder has to be present and paying, which is why table size caps exist.
