Who Runs This Site
Blue Light Guide is written by Daniel Cooper, the pen name of the UK-based independent editor who runs the site. It exists because the same questions about the card come up again and again: people don’t know whether they’re eligible, can’t work out how to apply, or assume the card only works at a handful of shops.
I’m not a Blue Light Card member, so this site doesn’t claim first-hand use of the offers. Instead, every discount and process here is checked against Blue Light Card’s own public pages and the brand’s own terms, and each article shows the date of that check. If something changes, I update the article. No one pays me to recommend any retailer or product listed here.

Every article on this site is written and fact-checked by me. I don’t use anonymous contributors or outsource to agencies. If I reference a discount figure, I check it against Blue Light Card’s public website and the brand’s own terms before publishing. If a reader emails me with a correction, I update the article and note the change.
Some header images on older articles were made with AI image tools. How We Check Discounts
Every discount figure on this site comes from a source you can check. We start with Blue Light Card’s own offer page, then the brand’s own terms, and use reputable UK news only for changes like a partnership ending.
- Rates are re-checked against the official page whenever an article is updated, and the updated date is shown at the top of each post.
- Screenshots of official pages are credited by name in the caption, so you can see where a figure came from.
- When a shop doesn’t take the card, we say so plainly and explain the workaround, rather than dressing a “no” up as a deal.
- Corrections from readers are checked and fixed, usually within a few days.
