Morrisons Friday Offer
Morrisons’ 10% Friday discount is the strongest supermarket offer for Blue Light Card holders. You get 10% off your entire in store shop when you spend £40 or more, applied at checkout.
The offer is available in store only and is currently scheduled to run until 24 April 2026.
The discount is applied at the checkout after your Blue Light Card has been verified, so remember to have your physical or digital card ready before paying.
As with most supermarket promotions, some products are excluded from the discount.
These typically include alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, gift cards, infant formula, and other restricted items, so the final saving may be lower than 10% if your basket contains excluded products.
To get the most value, consider planning your main weekly grocery shop for Friday and spending over the £40 minimum threshold.
Costco
Costco’s Blue Light Card benefit differs from other supermarkets you receive £10 vouchers instead of a percentage discount.

This fixed value reward can be used on eligible in-store purchases, making it a useful benefit for members who regularly shop in bulk or buy household essentials.
This is an add-on benefit, not a substitute for Costco membership. The vouchers are used in-store and have a fixed value rather than a percentage-based savings structure.
Because the discount comes as vouchers rather than a percentage off your total bill, the value remains the same regardless of how much you spend. This makes the offer particularly worthwhile if you’re already planning a Costco visit for groceries, home products, or bulk purchases.
While less flexible than Morrisons 10% offer, the vouchers still provide solid value for regular Costco shoppers.
Tesco Blue Light Card Discount
No. Tesco gives no in-store or online discount to Blue Light Card holders.
The only saving is a discounted Tesco Shopping Card, currently 4% off, bought through your Blue Light Card account and spent like a normal gift card.
To use it, log in to the Blue Light Card app, search Tesco, open the Shopping Card offer and pick the value you want to load.
You pay the member price, the card lands in the app straight away, and the saving is already baked in. No code at checkout. In store you hand it over at the till before the transaction goes through; at tesco’s website you enter the card details at the payment stage.
The bit most posts miss: paying with a Shopping Card doesn’t stop you scanning your Clubcard. The 4% sits on top of Clubcard Prices and points, which is the only reason it’s worth the faff.
Restrictions are simple. You’re pre-loading money, so buy in the size of your actual weekly shop rather than guessing high. Leftover balance rolls over.
Rates move and Tesco occasionally appears in the app’s boosted section at a better percentage, so check the live figure before you load £200 in one go.
Asda Blue Light Card Discount
No. Asda ended its Blue Light Card partnership on 27 May 2025.
New account links were switched off on 13 May 2025 and the 5% Asda Rewards Cashpot on fresh food was withdrawn a fortnight later, as reported when Asda confirmed the closure. Asda was the last major supermarket running a real till discount, so its exit is why this whole category is now gift-card territory.
What’s left is a discounted Asda Shopping Card, usually around 3.5%. Same mechanic as Tesco: buy it in the app at below face value, spend it in store or online, no code needed.
It also covers George clothing, which is the one genuinely useful extra here since school uniform and basics add up.
Don’t bother trying to link your card in the Asda Rewards app. The option no longer exists, and the old 5% terms still floating around on money blogs are out of date.

Sainsbury’s Blue Light Card Discount
Conditional. There’s no discount at the till on a normal Sainsbury’s shop. Two offers exist instead: a discount code for your first online grocery order, and a Sainsbury’s Shopping Card you buy face value below and spend like a gift card.
The code is online only and for first-time customers only. If you’ve had a Sainsbury’s delivery before, it won’t work for you.
It also can’t be stacked with any other voucher code or cashback, and your delivery or Click and Collect slot has to fall before the voucher expiry date, which catches people out when they book a slot three weeks ahead.
The Shopping Card is the one that keeps working. It’s usable both in store and online, with the saving built into the purchase price rather than applied at checkout.
How to claim it: log in to your Blue Light Card account, search Sainsbury’s in the offers section, then click through to the Sainsbury’s website.
The code copies itself automatically, so you just paste it at checkout. For the Shopping Card, buy it in the app and it’s stored there ready to use.
What the Sainsbury’s Shopping Card Will Not Cover
This is where people get caught at the till. The card is not valid on:
- Petrol stations
- Prescriptions
- PayPoint products
- In-store concessions
- Online delivery charges
- Tobacco kiosk items
Cash-related products including stamps, gift cards, top-ups, lottery tickets and currency exchange
Only one discount applies per transaction, so the code can’t be combined with other Sainsbury’s promotions or vouchers either.
My take: the first-order code is a one-off and most households can’t use it, so Sainsbury’s is effectively a Shopping Card supermarket.
If you’re loading a card anyway, Tesco’s 4% is the better rate for the same amount of effort
My Honest Read
Supermarket shopping cards are barely worth the effort under a £100 shop, and the 3-4% you get is roughly what you’d earn stacking a cashback site on the same purchase.
Tesco at 4% plus Clubcard is the strongest of the three.
Other Supermarkets With Blue Light Card Offers
A few smaller chains run offers that come and go, so treat these as worth checking rather than guaranteed.

Iceland is the pick of the three. New online customers get £6 off a £45 shop by claiming the code in the Blue Light Card app and pasting it at the Iceland checkout.
Once you’ve used it, there’s a smaller returning-customer code on a £60 minimum spend, which is worth grabbing before every big freezer restock.
Separately, the Iceland Shopping Card gives 3% off, but it’s redeemable in store only, so don’t buy one expecting to pay for a delivery with it. You can’t use a code and a Shopping Card on the same transaction either.
B&M gives no discount at the till. Staff will just look at you.
The saving comes entirely from a discounted B&M Shopping Card bought in the app first, and at roughly 5% it’s a better rate than any of the big four supermarkets.
Same for Farmfoods, which is Shopping Card only with no in-store offer.
Waitrose and M&S Food sit in the same bracket if you shop there, both around 3% through the Shopping Cards hub.
Rates on all of these move, and Blue Light Card runs boosted periods where a brand temporarily goes higher, so check the live figure in the app before loading a large amount.
