You reach the till at Zara, show your Blue Light Card and get a polite no. Zara, Primark and John Lewis turn it away at the checkout. Amazon, Aldi, Lidl and Home Bargains have no member offer at all.

The first three still have a way in. Blue Light Card sells discounted Shopping Cards for them, so you pay with a gift card bought for less.

Look for a Shopping Card First
Before you queue, search for the shop in the Blue Light Card app or in the brand directory on its website. What comes up tells you how to save, and whether you can save at all.
A Shopping Card offer means you buy the card first, then pay with it at the till or online. It’s a digital gift card sold below face value, and any balance you don’t spend stays on the card for next time. To buy one, log in, open the shop’s offer page and pick the Shopping Card option. You choose the value at that point, so load roughly what you plan to spend.
Blue Light Card sells Shopping Cards for more than 100 retailers. That’s why several shops that refuse the card at the till still save you money.
A discount code is different. You enter it at an online checkout instead.
Then there are brand pages that only point you to other retailers, as the LEGO page does. That means there’s no direct deal. If a shop doesn’t appear anywhere, there’s nothing to claim, and staff at the till have no discount they can apply.

Eight Shops Checked in October 2026
These are the shops people ask about most. The middle column shows what a member gets today, and the last one shows the smarter move.

None listed means the shop had no entry in Blue Light Card’s brand directory on the day we checked. Rates move too. Blue Light Card sometimes boosts a Shopping Card for a limited time, so treat the percentages as a guide rather than a fixed price.
No Offer at Amazon or Aldi
Amazon isn’t in Blue Light Card’s brand directory, so there’s no Amazon code and no Amazon Shopping Card to buy. Coupon sites that advertise an Amazon NHS code have nothing to do with the card.
If you were about to buy tech there, compare Currys first. Blue Light Card lists Currys codes and a Currys Shopping Card, and its Currys page currently shows up to £100 off selected Windows laptops. Argos sells a Shopping Card you can use online or in store.
Aldi and Lidl aren’t listed either, so the card does nothing at the two discounters. For a supermarket saving, Blue Light Card sells Shopping Cards for Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Iceland instead.
Home Bargains has no listing. The nearest swap is B&M, where a Shopping Card takes 5% off your spend in B&M stores across the UK.
If you work in healthcare, it’s also worth searching Health Service Discounts. It’s free for NHS and healthcare staff and has its own partner list, including discounted gift cards.
Zara at 3.5% Through a Gift Card
Zara, Primark and John Lewis are the three that look like a no but aren’t. None of them knocks money off at the till, yet Blue Light Card sells a discounted gift card for each.
Zara doesn’t issue member codes. Instead, members get 3.5% off Zara gift cards, bought through the Zara offer page and spent at zara.com or in any UK Zara store. It works on new collections, so you don’t have to wait for the sale. Our Zara Blue Light Card guide covers the steps.
Primark works the same way. You buy a discounted Primark Shopping Card and hand it over in store like a normal Primark gift card. The rate isn’t shown on Blue Light Card’s public page, so check it in the app before you buy. There’s more in our Primark guide.
John Lewis gift cards are 3% off through the same route. The card works at johnlewis.com and in John Lewis shops, across homeware, tech, fashion and beauty.
On a £100 card, Zara costs you £96.50 and John Lewis £97. That’s a modest saving, so it pays most on shops you’d use anyway, such as a school uniform run or a new kettle, rather than a special trip.
The Zara card arrives digitally as soon as you pay, so you can even buy one while you queue.
LEGO Through Four Partner Shops
LEGO is the odd one out. Blue Light Card says it has no direct LEGO code, and its LEGO page sends members to partners that stock the sets instead.
Those partners are John Lewis, Argos, Hamleys and The Entertainer. A John Lewis Shopping Card at 3% covers LEGO bought there, and there’s an Argos Shopping Card too, so either works before a birthday or Christmas shop.
For a bigger set, compare Hamleys and The Entertainer in the app as well. LEGOLAND is a separate listing for days out, so don’t confuse it with the toys.
Partner lists change as brands join and leave. Before any big shop, check the app or our Blue Light Card discounts list, which shows the brands on the card today.
