Starbucks gives Blue Light Card members 10% off the bill in participating stores. You show your card at the till before you pay, and there’s no code to copy.
Blue Light Guide is an independent guide and isn’t affiliated with Blue Light Card Ltd. For your account, verification or payments, use the official Blue Light Card website or app.
The 10% doesn’t work on Mobile Order in the Starbucks app, as Starbucks’ own help page confirms. Order at the counter when you want the saving.
Regulars have a second option. Blue Light Card sells Starbucks gift cards at 9.5% off, and you spend them at the till.
Three Steps at the Starbucks Till
Claiming takes a moment at the counter. Blue Light Card’s Starbucks page says there’s no discount code, only your card.
- Open the Starbucks offer in the Blue Light Card app or website and check its details.
- Order at the till in a participating store, not through Mobile Order.
- Show your digital card in the app, or the plastic card, before you pay. The barista then takes 10% off the bill.
Check the total has dropped before you tap your bank card. Blue Light Card asks you to present the card before payment, so don’t wait for the receipt. Our guide to using your Blue Light Card shows the virtual card at the till.
There’s no separate NHS scheme to ask for. Starbucks’ help page on NHS discounts answers with this same 10% for Blue Light Card holders.

Armed forces members and veterans have another route. Starbucks gives the same 10% to Defence Discount Service cardholders, again in participating stores and not on mobile orders.
Blue Light Card membership costs £4.99 for two years. At 10%, the fee is covered once you’ve spent £49.90 at Starbucks. Our guide to Blue Light Card for NHS staff covers who qualifies.
Participating Starbucks Stores Only
Both companies limit the offer to participating stores, and neither publishes the list. Blue Light Card points members to the offer details in their account.

The saving covers coffees, iced drinks, teas and selected food, subject to current terms. It comes off the bill, not just your own drink. When Starbucks joined on 14 March 2018, Blue Light Card’s launch post said members could use it with friends and family.

No 10% on Mobile Order or Delivery
Starbucks’ help page says the discount is only for purchases made in participating stores and not for mobile orders. If you order ahead in the Starbucks app, you pay full price.
Delivery misses out too. Starbucks Delivers runs through Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo, and the 10% only covers purchases made in participating stores.
Blue Light Card’s delivery Shopping Cards still help there. Just Eat cards are 4.5% off, and Uber Eats and Deliveroo cards are 3.5% off. Our Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats guide explains how each card works.
Station and Airport Counters
The wording has narrowed since launch. In 2018, Blue Light Card said the 10% worked at all Starbucks stores in the UK and Ireland. Today both companies say participating stores.
Starbucks says some of its stores are run by licensees, and those may not redeem Rewards Stars. A small number aren’t wholly company owned, including concessions at railway stations and airports and some university stores.
Starbucks doesn’t say whether those counters give the Blue Light Card 10%, and its help pages don’t mention motorway services or supermarkets. So ask before you order at a station, airport, motorway or supermarket counter.
Coffee Run Maths at £5.25 a Latte
Starbucks doesn’t publish its till prices online. Its own delivery menu does, so this example uses the prices on Starbucks’ Uber Eats menu for Bath on 25 October 2026.
Picture a coffee run for you and two colleagues. You order a Caffè Latte, a Flat White and a Caramel Macchiato, plus a Ham & Cheese Croissant.

At 10% off, that £22.60 bill comes to £20.34, which saves £2.26 on one round. Here’s how the same spend compares across the ways to pay.
| How you pay | Cost | Saving |
|---|---|---|
| Full menu price | £22.60 | None |
| Blue Light Card at the till | £20.34 | £2.26 |
| 9.5% Starbucks gift card | £20.45 | £2.15 |
| Uber Eats card at 3.5% | £21.81 plus fees | 79p |
Treat the till rows as a guide, because store prices can differ from delivery menus. The order of the routes still holds. The till discount beats the gift card by a little, and delivery loses the 10% altogether.
Three rounds like this save £6.78, which more than covers the £4.99 membership.
Starbucks Gift Cards at 9.5% Off
Blue Light Card’s Starbucks gift card costs 9.5% below face value. You buy it in your account, the details arrive digitally straight away, and you show it at the till before the payment goes through.

Blue Light Card says it works like a standard Starbucks gift card. That matters at concession counters. Starbucks says a small number of stores that aren’t wholly company owned can’t take Starbucks Cards, and its store locator has an Accept Starbucks Cards filter for checking.

Unspent balance stays on the card for next time. Blue Light Card’s FAQ mentions the card’s expiry date, while Starbucks’ card terms say a Starbucks Card has no expiry date, so check the details that come with yours. Starbucks isn’t on Blue Light Card’s top-up list, so each card is a new purchase.
Can you use the card and the 10% on one order? Blue Light Card doesn’t say, so ask the barista first. On the £22.60 round, the till discount alone already saves more than the card.
The 9.5% rate beats the 8% on Costa and Caffè Nero cards. Our Costa, Starbucks and Subway guide sets Costa’s card against the Starbucks offers.
10 Stars per £1 From Rewards
Starbucks Rewards is free to join in the Starbucks UK app. You collect 10 Stars for every £1, however you pay, when you scan the app at the till or order ahead in it.
Stars start paying back at 150, which buys a filter coffee, hot tea or Americano. A bakery item costs 350 Stars and a handcrafted drink 600. Reach 2,500 Stars within 12 months, and Gold Level adds free extra shots, syrups and a birthday drink.
Neither company says whether you can scan for Stars and take the 10% on the same order, so ask at the till. Starbucks’ offer terms are clearer about app promotions such as Double Stars. Those can’t be combined with other offers or discounts.
Stars aren’t available everywhere, either. Starbucks’ Rewards terms say not every store can award them, and its excluded stores list is mostly station, airport and Cineworld sites. Orders through Starbucks Delivers earn no Stars at all.
One more Starbucks saving needs no card. Bring your own cup, and Starbucks takes 25p off the drink.
For bigger savings in one visit, our restaurant discounts guide lists chains at up to 25% off. The Blue Light Card discounts list covers the rest of the card.
