Say you hand over your Blue Light Card at the Chester Zoo ticket office. Nothing comes off there, because the offer only works online through Love to visit, a ticket booking site.
Blue Light Guide is an independent guide and isn’t affiliated with Blue Light Card Ltd. For your account, verification or payments, use the official Blue Light Card website or app.
Blue Light Card doesn’t publish the rate. The saving is applied when you click through from your account, so there’s no code to copy.
Chester Zoo’s own website lists no NHS or key worker discount. Instead, its prices drop when you book ahead. An adult pays £42.50 at the gate, but £25 online on a Value date.
A Partner Price for Chester Zoo
Blue Light Card’s Chester Zoo page describes a verified discount through Love to visit, with the saving taken off before you pay. Its FAQ says you can only redeem it while booking online, so the ticket office can’t apply it.

The page calls it a discount code, but none of the FAQ steps involve one. The price drops after you click through. Blue Light Card’s help centre calls offers that work this way a dedicated website offer, and says they open with a Get Discount button.
No public page gives the rate. Chester Zoo isn’t on Blue Light Card’s zoo discounts page, and its help centre doesn’t mention the zoo.
Any verified member can use it. Blue Light Card names NHS staff, teachers, emergency services, the armed forces, police and social care workers, plus retirees from those jobs. Our eligibility guide covers the full list.
Chester Zoo doesn’t list an NHS, key worker or emergency services offer of its own either. Its ticket, membership and FAQ pages and its terms showed none on 27 October 2026.
Some visitors go in free anyway. Babies under one don’t pay, and a disabled visitor can bring one carer free with a full price adult or child ticket bought online. Chester Zoo’s terms ask for proof such as a PIP or DLA letter, and a Blue Badge no longer counts.
Finding the Chester Zoo Offer
The route comes from the FAQ on Blue Light Card’s Chester Zoo page. Log in to the app or website, then search for Love to visit, not Chester Zoo. Open the Love to visit offer page and choose its Chester Zoo offer.
Click through to Love to visit’s website, where the discount is applied automatically. Pick your date and tickets there, then pay online. Not a member yet? Membership costs £4.99 for two years, and Blue Light Card says document checks are typically done within 7 days, so join well before the trip.
If the price doesn’t drop, Blue Light Card’s link troubleshooting article says to clear your cache and cookies and click through again from the offer page. So pause before you pay. Once a booking goes through without the discount, you have to contact the partner, and its own policies apply.
Then compare the total with Chester Zoo’s own price for the same date, set out below. Check Lanterns & Light the same way. The winter trail runs from 13 November to 3 January with separate tickets from £12, and Blue Light Card’s page doesn’t mention it.
Save £45 by Booking a Value Date
Chester Zoo prices tickets by date. Its price list splits online tickets into Value and Standard dates, and the prices include a voluntary 10% donation.

Say two adults and two children aged 3 to 15 visit. At the gate, adults pay £42.50 and children £30, so the family pays £145. Booked online for a Standard date, the same four tickets cost £132.

Chester Zoo’s ticket shop also lists a £119 ticket for any four people, sold online only. The zoo says it saves up to £33, the gap against four £38 adult tickets. For this family it’s £13 less than four Standard tickets.
A Value date beats both. Every adult, child and student ticket costs £25, so the family pays £100 for the day, £45 less than at the gate.

So the totals to beat on Love to visit are £119 on a Standard date and £100 on a Value date. Toddlers aged 1 and 2 add £2.50 each.
Timing matters too. Advance tickets are only sold online until 9:30am on the day. After that, on the day tickets cost the gate’s £42.50 and £30, as do flexible tickets valid on any one day within 12 months.
Regular visitors can skip tickets altogether. A Chester Zoo membership gives a year of unlimited entry. An adult costs £146.34, or £117.07 if you sign up to renew by Direct Debit, which saves 20%.
A Junior Explorer aged 3 to 15 costs £110.39, or £88.31 by Direct Debit. Added to an adult membership, juniors start from £76.94, or £61.56 by Direct Debit.

For the family above, Direct Debit membership starts at £357.26 a year, about three £119 tickets for four. Chester Zoo says membership pays for itself in three visits. Blue Light Card’s page only mentions tickets, so membership is bought from the zoo.
Members also get one free entry to selected other UK zoos and half price tickets for friends on Members Days.
Nearby Zoos From 5% to 25%
Other zoos on the card publish their rates. The table covers Chester Zoo and five offers across the North West, the Midlands and Yorkshire, following each zoo’s own terms where they differ.
| Attraction | Area | Member offer | How to book |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chester Zoo | Cheshire | Rate not published | Love to visit link, online only |
| Knowsley Safari | Merseyside | 15% off online bookings | Online code, not at the gate |
| SEA LIFE centres | Manchester and Blackpool | Price applied, rate not shown | Link, 24 hours ahead |
| Twycross Zoo | Midlands | Up to 25% off day tickets | Online code at checkout |
| West Midland Safari Park | Midlands | Up to 7% off online prices | Online code, admission only |
| Yorkshire Wildlife Park | South Yorkshire | 5% off standard admission | Online code, memberships too |
Knowsley Safari gives members 15% off online bookings, and Blue Light Card’s Knowsley page says the code can’t be used at the gate. Knowsley has dropped off the zoo discounts page, so search for it by name in the app.
Twycross Zoo offers up to 25% on day tickets, so some dates may show less. West Midland Safari Park’s terms cap its code at 7% off online prices, though Blue Light Card’s zoo page says up to £13.50 off the gate price.
SEA LIFE applies its member price when you click through. Blue Light Card’s SEA LIFE page says to book at least 24 hours ahead and bring proof of employment. SEA LIFE belongs to Merlin, which our Merlin guide covers.
Further south, two rates on Blue Light Card’s zoo page don’t match the zoos’ own terms. Hertfordshire Zoo’s FAQ gives 20% off day tickets, not 10%, but only on the cardholder’s own ticket, paid at the Welcome Centre with photo ID.

Marwell Zoo sets its rate by date. Its terms set a rate for each period, most recently 20% for visits up to 1 November 2026, booked through Blue Light Card’s website. Blue Light Card’s zoo page shows 5%, so check the rate for your dates when you book.
Chester Zoo’s list of free member visits names both Marwell and Hertfordshire Zoo. London Zoo and Whipsnade take 10% off pre-booked tickets, and London Zoo’s code covers single dated tickets only, not family tickets or memberships.
Our zoo discounts guide compares these zoos and safari parks in more detail, and the days out guide adds castles, cinemas and Merlin parks. For rides rather than animals, try the theme park guide, or browse the full discounts list.
