Blue Light Card’s breakdown deal is with the RAC, and members only see the rate after logging in. The one RAC figure on its public pages is £20 off a service at home.
Blue Light Guide is an independent guide and isn’t affiliated with Blue Light Card Ltd. For your account, verification or payments, use the official Blue Light Card website or app.
The AA runs its own key worker scheme, with up to 40% off for new customers. Neither the AA nor Green Flag has a Blue Light Card listing.
Car insurance comes as rewards through MoneySuperMarket and Go.Compare, with Marshmallow also named. Blue Light Card says it isn’t an insurer and its offers aren’t advice.
Six Names From RAC to Green Flag
Blue Light Card’s insurance page names four partners for car insurance and breakdown cover. They’re MoneySuperMarket, the RAC, Go.Compare and Marshmallow, shown here as checked on 25 October 2026 next to two big names that aren’t listed.
| Provider | Member offer | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| RAC breakdown cover | Discount on UK and European cover | Rate shows only after login |
| RAC service at home | £20 off | Price varies by make and model |
| MoneySuperMarket | Gift card when you buy a policy | Reward can change or be withdrawn |
| Go.Compare | Reward on a car insurance policy | Amount not shown publicly |
| Marshmallow | Car insurance offer | Details only after login |
| AA | No Blue Light Card listing | Runs its own key worker scheme |
| Green Flag | No Blue Light Card listing | Old NHS page now redirects |
None of the four has its own brand page on Blue Light Card’s site, and the RAC is missing from its 578-brand A to Z. Its offers sit on the breakdown cover page instead, as three tiles.

The RAC Rate Shows After Login
The RAC confirms the deal on its own site. Its mobile mechanic FAQ says it offers a Blue Light Card discount on its mechanics and on UK and European breakdown cover, then points you to Blue Light Card for the details.

Those details sit behind the member login. Once you buy, the RAC’s own rules apply.
National Recovery Waits 24 Hours
On RAC breakdown cover, Roadside Assistance and At Home cover start on the date you choose. National Recovery and Onward Travel start after 24 hours, and Key, Battery and Tyre Replace after 7 days.

You can’t buy cover once you’ve already broken down, but the RAC has no age limit on the cars it covers. Blue Light Card’s breakdown FAQ adds that some policies start straight away while others may have a short wait.
Basic cover includes Roadside Assistance, Standard adds National Recovery anywhere in the UK, and Extra and Complete add help at your home address. The RAC lists Roadside cover from £5.29 a month, a price it says at least 10% of new customers pay for single-vehicle Basic cover.
European Cover From £3.57 a Day
The second tile is RAC European Breakdown Cover, sold for single trips of 1 to 90 days or as annual cover. The RAC says it covers 48 countries, with a 24/7 English-speaking helpline.
Single trip prices start from £3.57 a day for a vehicle up to a year old, on the first of its two cover levels. Flying instead? Our airport parking and train guide covers the trip to the terminal.
RAC Mobile Mechanics Take £20 Off
The third tile covers RAC Mobile Mechanics, who service or repair your car at home or at work. Blue Light Card’s car service page and motoring page both list it as £20 off your service at home, and the RAC says its prices vary by make and model.
For a garage instead, Halfords Autocentres takes 10% off servicing and includes the MOT with a Full or Major Service. Our Halfords Blue Light Card guide works through real prices, and Kwik Fit’s member code takes 10% off a service and MOT.
Quote Through Blue Light Card First
Every offer above starts in the Blue Light Card app or website, because the rates and links sit behind the login. Search for the provider, open its offer and follow the button.
Blue Light Card’s help centre describes two common types. A code offer has a Copy Discount Code button, while a dedicated website offer has a Get Discount button that opens the partner’s site with the discount applied.
Its insurance page sets out four steps for cover. Compare quotes, check out through the offer in the app or website, collect your voucher reward or discount, then come back at renewal time.
Go back through Blue Light Card each time, even if you’ve bookmarked the RAC, because some offers only work through its link. If a discount hasn’t applied, pause before you pay, as afterwards the partner’s own policies apply. Our guide on how to use Blue Light Card covers codes and links in more detail.
Three Partners for Car Insurance
Blue Light Card’s insurance FAQ says its offers vary between discounts, incentives to switch and comparison services. For car insurance, its public pages describe rewards rather than a set percentage off your premium.
Its legal page says Blue Light Card isn’t a lender or insurer and doesn’t make underwriting decisions. It acts as an introducer appointed representative of regulated providers, may earn a fee or commission, and says its offers aren’t advice.

MoneySuperMarket Adds a Gift Card
Blue Light Card’s car insurance comparison service runs with MoneySuperMarket and compares offers from a wide range of UK insurers. A June 2026 blog post says members get a gift card when they buy a policy, with terms applying.
An April 2026 post put the reward at a £45 gift card, but adds that rewards can be withdrawn or changed at any time. Blue Light Card may also earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.
Two More Partners Behind the Login
Go.Compare appears on Blue Light Card’s financial services page with one line, “Purchase Car Insurance and get a reward”. The amount isn’t shown.
Marshmallow, a car insurer, is the fourth name. Blue Light Card lists it on its insurance page and in that page’s FAQ, but the offer only shows once you log in.
No AA or Green Flag Listing
Blue Light Card’s motoring FAQ names the AA among its partners. Yet on 25 October 2026 there was no AA brand page, gift card page or A to Z entry, and no AA tile on the motoring or breakdown pages. Green Flag isn’t on any of those pages, and its old NHS page now redirects to its homepage.
The AA runs its own key worker scheme instead, with up to 40% off online. It’s 25% on personal, 30% on joint, 35% on vehicle and 40% on family cover, for new AA customers in their first 12 months. You prove your status through GoCertify, via the Verify now button on the AA’s page.

The AA’s list covers NHS staff, paramedics, police, the fire service, HM Prison staff, current or veteran UK military personnel and teachers at registered nurseries, schools, universities and colleges. The discount doesn’t apply to Parts & Garage Cover, Key Cover, Commercial Use or Tyre Cover, and can’t be combined with other offers.

Start Rescue gives NHS staff 10% off with the code NHS10, after a quote using an NHS email address. It works on annual vehicle or annual personal cover, not business or short-term European policies.
Its NHS page prices 3 star cover at £55.12 for a car up to five years old, based on a sample postcode and date of birth (updated 22 September 2026). Take 10% off and that’s £49.61, a saving of £5.51.
The card covers far more than driving. Our Blue Light Card discounts list runs through the main categories, and our guide to where you can use a Blue Light Card sorts retailers by type. Our NHS staff guide covers brands that verify NHS staff themselves.
