Blue Light Card Train and Airport Parking Discounts

Is there a Blue Light Card train discount? Yes, but it’s small. Members get 2% to 5% off train tickets booked through TrainPal or Trip.com, plus a 3% Eurostar Shopping Card.

Blue Light Guide is an independent guide and isn’t affiliated with Blue Light Card Ltd. For your account, verification or payments, use the official Blue Light Card website or app.

There’s no Blue Light railcard, and no NHS railcard either. A standard railcard costs £35 a year and takes a third off most fares, so it usually saves far more.

Airport parking is the stronger offer, with member deals at 15 UK airports. We checked everything below on 24 October 2026.

Rail Codes Worth 2% to 5%

Blue Light Card’s train tickets page lists four rail partners. Two of them are booking sites that give members a discount code.

TrainPal takes 5% off rail tickets for new customers and 2% for existing ones. Its codes cover UK and European train tickets on selected routes, and Blue Light Card says they usually can’t be combined with other TrainPal offers.

Trip.com works the same way for UK train tickets. New customers get 5% off, and a second code takes 2% off UK train tickets.

Avanti West Coast offers members discounted fixed fares. The routes and prices only show once you log in, so look before you book a trip on the West Coast line.

For Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam, a Eurostar Shopping Card saves 3%. You buy the card for less than its value and spend it at Eurostar’s checkout. Only one card works per booking, and each card expires a year after you buy it. Shopping Cards behave like gift cards, as our guide to using your Blue Light Card explains.

One big name is missing. Trainline isn’t a Blue Light Card partner, so there’s no Trainline code to claim.

Codes Are Copied and Emailed

Claiming a rail code takes a couple of minutes. Log in to the Blue Light Card app or website, search for TrainPal or Trip.com and open the offer page. Pick the code offer, then click through to the booking site.

Blue Light Card copies the code for you, and Trip.com codes arrive by email as well. Paste the code at checkout, and the saving comes off before you pay.

Avanti’s fixed fares and the Eurostar card sit on their own offer pages in the same account. It all happens online, so the plastic card can stay in your wallet.

You need an active membership first. It costs £4.99 for two years, and our guide to the cost explains what that covers.

Is There a Blue Light Railcard?

No. National Rail lists nine railcards, and none of them is for NHS staff or the emergency services. So there’s no NHS train discount through a railcard either.

The closest link is on Blue Light Card’s Railcard page. It says members may see Railcard discount codes from time to time, and that availability varies.

When one is running, it works like any other code. You search for Railcard in your account, click through, and paste the code when you buy a normal railcard.

The same goes for the Family & Friends Railcard. There’s no Blue Light version, but any adult can buy one for £35 a year. It takes a third off adult fares and 60% off for children aged 5 to 15, and at least one child has to travel with you.

A £35 Railcard Saves a Third

For most journeys, a railcard beats any member code. Most railcards cost £35 for a year, according to National Rail, and take 1/3 off most fares.

Take a £60 fare. A railcard saves £20 on it, the 5% new customer code saves £3 and a 2% code saves £1.20.

A £35 railcard pays for itself after about £105 of full price fares. Most railcards also come with minimum fares or time limits on weekday mornings, so early shift workers should read the terms before buying one.

£21 a Year for Serving Forces

Serving personnel have their own card. The HM Forces Railcard costs £21 a year and takes a third off most fares across Great Britain. Up to four children travelling with you get 60% off child fares.

It’s for leisure travel only, so journeys between home and your place of duty don’t count. In the Army or Royal Navy you apply through your unit HR admin staff, and in the RAF through the RAF HR Portal. National Rail says spouses and dependent children aged 16 or 17 can get one too.

Veterans can buy the Veterans Railcard for £35 a year or £80 for three years. You qualify after serving at least one day in the UK Armed Forces, regular or reserve, and one named adult companion gets a third off too when travelling with you.

A Defence Discount Service card counts as proof of service if it shows the words HM Armed Forces Veteran, but the digital version isn’t accepted. Veterans with a Blue Light Card can use the TrainPal and Trip.com codes as well.

Parking Deals at 15 UK Airports

Airport parking is where the card does more. Blue Light Card’s airport parking page covers 15 UK airports, from Aberdeen and Glasgow to Heathrow, Gatwick and Southampton.

The deals come through SkyParkSecure, Purple Parking, APH, Maple Parking, NCP and Prioritybooker, plus some airports’ own car parks. Short stay and long stay are covered, and some partners add valet or meet and greet.

Rates only show once you log in, and availability varies by provider and travel date. On most offers the code is copied when you click through, and you paste it at the parking site’s checkout.

Holiday Extras covers parking, airport hotels, lounges and car hire from one member page. Blue Light Card also has its own airport lounge offers, with the participating lounges listed in your account.
