Picture your glasses snapping halfway through a week of night shifts. The one big optician chain with a Blue Light Card discount is Vision Express, at 20% off online.
Blue Light Guide is an independent guide and isn’t affiliated with Blue Light Card Ltd. For your account, verification or payments, use the official Blue Light Card website or app.
Specsavers and Boots Opticians have no member offer at all. For contact lenses, Lenstore takes up to 20% off online.
Many readers can also get the eye test itself free, through the NHS or their employer. We checked every offer and rule below on 24 October 2026.
Seven Brands Side by Side
These are the optical brands people ask about most, and where each one stands with the card today.
| Brand | Member saving | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
| Vision Express | 20% off | Online only |
| Lenstore | Up to 20% off | Online, contact lenses |
| Glasses Direct | Member code | Online |
| Feel Good Contacts | Member code | Online |
| Optimax | £100 to £300 off | Laser and lens surgery |
| Specsavers | No offer | Not on Blue Light Card |
| Boots Opticians | No offer | Excluded from the Boots card |
Member code means the rate only shows once you log in to Blue Light Card. Optical offers change often, so check the app before you order.
Four Names on the High Street
Most people start with the opticians on their local high street. Only one of the big chains takes the card, and a laser clinic adds a fourth answer.
Vision Express Takes 20% Online
Vision Express gives Blue Light Card members 20% off glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. On glasses, the discount covers the frame and the lenses, including lens add-ons.
The catch is where you claim it. Vision Express’s own terms say the code works online only at visionexpress.com, even though Blue Light Card’s page says it works in store as well. Follow the stricter rule and order online.

The 20% won’t combine with any other Vision Express offer or code. It also excludes the £25 glasses, £15 sunglasses, sale and outlet lines, and luxury brands such as Chanel, Prada, Cartier and Persol.
Blue Light Card’s page mentions eye tests too, but Vision Express’s terms limit the 20% to glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. If your card has lapsed, Vision Express runs a separate 20% key worker discount online, checked through GoCertify instead.
No Specsavers Code to Claim
Specsavers isn’t on Blue Light Card. It has no offer page there and isn’t among the 578 brands in Blue Light Card’s A to Z directory, so there’s no code, Shopping Card or till discount to claim.
We found no member offer from Optical Express, Leightons or Scrivens either. Our Specsavers guide has more on what’s available there.
Boots Opticians Is Left Out
Boots Opticians has no member offer either. Blue Light Card does sell a Boots Shopping Card at 3% below face value, but its terms rule out opticians, pharmacy and hearing care.

So the card can’t pay for glasses or an eye test at Boots. It still works across the main health and beauty range, which our Boots Blue Light Card guide covers.
£100 Off Laser Surgery at Optimax
Laser eye surgery is the other route people ask about. Optimax takes £100 off full laser eye surgery on both eyes for Blue Light Card holders, and £300 off lens surgery.
You show your card at the free consultation, and Optimax checks your eligibility before any treatment starts. The offer comes from Optimax itself, so you won’t find it in the Blue Light Card app.
Online Codes for Lenses and Frames
Online shops are where the card works best for anyone who reorders lenses.
Lenstore at Up to 20% Off
Blue Light Card lists up to 20% off at Lenstore for contact lenses ordered on its website. You copy the code from your account, and Blue Light Card emails it to you as well.

Lenstore sells daily, monthly and toric lenses, so the code suits anyone on a regular order. The codes work like any other online offer, as our guide to using the card online shows.
Glasses Direct and Feel Good Contacts
Glasses Direct and Feel Good Contacts both have member codes for online orders. Neither public page shows the rate, so compare them in the app.
Feel Good Contacts covers more than lenses, with glasses, sunglasses, eye drops and solutions in its range. Vision Direct, which appeared on older lists, had no Blue Light Card page when we checked.
Eye Tests That Cost Nothing
A Blue Light Card doesn’t come with a free eye test. Plenty of members still pay nothing for one, through the NHS or their employer.

In England, the NHS pays for sight tests for under 16s, 16 to 18 year olds in full-time education, anyone 60 or over, and people with diabetes or glaucoma. Certain benefits qualify too, as the NHS eye test rules explain. Working for the NHS doesn’t count on its own.
Under 16s, students aged 16 to 18 and people on certain benefits can also get an NHS optical voucher towards glasses or contact lenses.
Free Eye Exams in Scotland
Scotland goes further. NHS inform says all NHS eye examinations are free there if you usually live in the UK.
Screen Users Ask Their Employer
If you use a screen daily for continuous spells of an hour or more, you count as a display screen user. The Health and Safety Executive says your employer must arrange and pay for an eye test if you ask.

Your employer chooses how, so some reimburse a receipt while others send everyone to one optician. Glasses are only covered if you need a special pair for the distance you view the screen at.
Claim the 20% in Four Steps
The Vision Express code takes a couple of minutes to find.
- Log in to the Blue Light Card app or website and search for Vision Express.
- Open the offer. Your code is copied for you and sent by email.
- Choose your frames and lenses at visionexpress.com.
- Paste the code into the discount box in your basket before you pay.
Two pairs change the maths. Vision Express also runs 50% off a second pair, which takes half off the cheaper pair and can’t be used with the 20%.

For a single pair, the second pair deal does nothing, so the 20% wins and a £200 pair costs £160. For two, the half price deal wins when the cheaper pair costs more than two thirds of the dearer one. Two £200 pairs save £100 with the deal, against £80 with the card.
Staff at opticians can join Blue Light Card too. Paid work at an optician or audiology practice counts, proved with a payslip, work ID or GOC registration number, as our eligibility guide explains.
